A detail shot taken in a small, predominantly rose-colored canyon. In early morning light, before the sun illuminates the area, the whole canyon glows with reflected pink light, enhancing the natural colors of the rocks.

A small pocket in the side of a large fold. The stripes continue on intermittently for almost fifty feet along the wall, in wild waves of color.

A photo composition along the same rock wall pictured above.

Another photo composition along the same rock wall pictured above.

My favorite rock, hidden among the many folds, in a small and beautiful setting.

A view down another wash, in late afternoon.

A detail shot in a particularly delicate and beautiful area,
taken at an ambient temperature of over 120 degrees,
on a July afternoon many years ago.

A rock wall detail in afternoon light.

A lone spring flower, native to the region,
grows out of the colorful sandstone.

A pocket in a red wall glows in light reflected from an orange
rock wall at sunset.

A colorful slope, wet by a rare rainfall, and lit by early morning light.

A rare photo opportunity in this region, a receding storm
is framed by still-wet foreground rock.
